Frequently Asked Questions
How long are sessions?
Standard therapy sessions run for 50 minutes. The initial session focuses on understanding your goals, exploring current challenges, and ensuring that the therapeutic approach feels like the right fit for you or your child.
Do you offer telehealth or mobile sessions?
Yes. Telehealth sessions (via secure video) and mobile sessions (in-home, school, or community settings) are available upon request. These options can be particularly beneficial for clients who feel more comfortable in familiar environments or who experience challenges with travel or transitions.
What are your fees and payment options?
Session fees vary depending on the type of service (therapy, assessment, or NDIS-funded support). Payment is required at the time of service. Medicare, DVA, and WorkCover rebates will be available soon.
NDIS participants who are self-managed or plan-managed are welcome to access services.
What can I expect in my first session?
The first session is a chance for you (and your child, if applicable) to share what has brought you to therapy. Together, we’ll explore your goals, discuss the best therapeutic approach, and outline what future sessions may look like. It’s also an opportunity to ensure that the therapeutic relationship feels comfortable and supportive.
What types of assessments do you offer?
Elysian provides comprehensive diagnostic and functional assessments, including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Cognitive and intellectual functioning
Specific Learning Disorders (SLD)
Functional Capacity Assessments
Assessments are always individualised—there’s no “one-size-fits-all” battery. Each assessment is designed to answer the specific questions relevant to the person being assessed.
Do you work with parents and families?
Yes. Collaboration with parents, caregivers, and support networks is an important part of our approach. We aim to empower families with understanding, strategies, and practical tools to help their young person thrive at home, school, and in the community.
What therapeutic approaches do you use?
Therapy at Elysian is grounded in evidence-based and neuro-affirming practice. Depending on your goals and preferences, sessions may draw on:
Narrative Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Approaches are flexible and always adapted to meet sensory, communication, and emotional needs.
